Everybody Into The Pool!

Summer is synonymous with sunshine, relaxation, and making memories by the water. If you're searching for the perfect place to unwind, soak up the sun, and enjoy a resort-style experience close to home, the Somers Point Paddle Club offers a luxurious waterfront escape for the whole family.

When you think of summer immediately longer days, warm weather, and soaking up the sun and outdoor fun come to mind. You can imagine yourself lounging by a gorgeous pool, slathered with sunscreen in your cute new bathing suit with a cool drink at your side.  Now you ask, “Where can I find this kind of exclusive place to chill?” Whether you need an outlet for the kids to splash about or a summertime way to enjoy a poolside drink, the Somers Point Paddle Club has a comfy lounge chair waiting for you.

Located steps away from the bay, the newly opened club strives to be where “luxury meets leisure.” Touting not one but two saltwater pools surrounded by padded lounge chairs, the private club serves as an oasis for relaxation. In addition, the Paddle Club offers two hot tubs, private cabanas, shaded turf areas with soft seating, and a pool side dining area that adds up to a resort-style vibe.

Paddle Club Beginnings

In 2013, Sean Scarborough, Principle of Scarborough Properties, purchased and rebuilt the Cape May Marina area with 36 single-family homes. As part of the project, he decided to add a pool amenity for members only to enhance the waterfront project. Scarborough explains, “It would be a benefit to everyone who enjoys the waterfront lifestyle to have a casual poolside bar and outdoor restaurant for members only. It was a hunch, and it worked.”

Not only did it work in Cape May, but the pool club concept has made a “splash” in Brigantine as well.  From a geographical perspective, the Somers Point club, located between the two other existing clubs, will be their largest. It is also located in a market that Scarborough totally understands, having developed the Harbour Cove property over the last 45 years.

And why the name Paddle Club when there are no paddleboards?  Scarborough got the idea from visiting Hawaiian Canoe Clubs – a place that brings people together to enjoy the ocean. In addition to being a successful businessman, he is also a sailor, surfer, and fisherman. Naturally, with salt water in his DNA, Scarborough wanted to create a retreat where people could gather by the water’s edge and just enjoy a summer day – with fresh food and a cold drink. A vision no one can argue with!

Dive In!

Whether a family outing or a group of adults without children, the Paddle Club offers three distinct features in a five-star resort setting: Luxury, Privacy, and Fun.  For families, the kids’ only zone features a pool and spa, complete with waterfalls, as well as a shade deck. On the other side of the pool deck overlooking the water is the adult pool, spa, and sunshade area with swing seats. For added luxury, private cabanas are available for rent.

After splashing or lounging the day away, members will no doubt crave a bite to eat and a beverage. Paddle Club members have access to a full bar and restaurant offering lunch and dinner options ranging from a sushi bar, wraps and sandwiches, a full dinner menu, and a kids’ menu. For adult members, quench your thirst with cocktails made from freshly squeezed juices, cold beer on tap, or a specialty drink – all available for your poolside pleasure.

In addition, the Paddle Club offers live music regularly and specialty program nights for members throughout the summer season. What a perfect place to host a semi-private pool party!
