For two decades, Diabetes Training Camp (DTC) has been transforming lives—not just through education and fitness, but through connection, confidence, and celebration. This year, the nonprofit marks its 20th anniversary with the 8th Annual Come Experience the Magic fundraiser gala on World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2025, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. And trust us—it’s more than a fundraiser. It’s a movement.
A Night of Inspiration & Celebration
The gala promises an unforgettable evening filled with:
- Dinner & Drinks
- Live Music & Dancing with The Usual Suspects
- Honoree Tributes to George & Patricia Siganos (DTC Legacy Award) and Brett DeNafo (DTC Warrior Award)
- Silent Auction with exciting prizes
- Community & Connection with fellow supporters, campers, and advocates
It’s a chance to honor those thriving with diabetes and raise funds for scholarships and programs that make DTC accessible to more families.

The upcoming Come Experience the Magic gala on November 14, 2025, celebrates 20 years of this transformative work. It’s not just a fundraiser—it’s a tribute to the resilience of those living with diabetes and a rallying call for continued innovation and inclusion.
Whether you're newly diagnosed, a seasoned T1D athlete, or a parent navigating care for a child, DTC offers tools, knowledge, and connection. It’s a place where science meets soul—and where living with diabetes becomes a journey of empowerment.
What Is Diabetes Training Camp?
Founded by Dr. Matthew Corcoran, DTC is a one-of-a-kind experience for people living with diabetes—especially Type 1. Through immersive camps and bootcamps, participants learn how to manage their condition while pursuing fitness, sport, and wellness goals.
Camp Highlights:
- Clinical education on diabetes management
- Nutrition coaching
- Mental skills training
- Fitness and sports performance
- Peer support and community bonding

The camp's curriculum is rooted in DTC's "Learn. Train. Connect." model.
- Campers learn from experts in clinical diabetes, nutrition and fueling, exercise physiology and mental skills training
- Campers practice living an active life surrounded by medical professionals - whether it is going for a walk or cycling 50 miles, campers at DTC learn how to manage blood sugars, fuel properly and succeed actively helping them to live a long and healthy life.
- DTC creates a supportive and empathetic community of people who "get it" and stay connected long after camp ends.
This unique model makes DTC different from any other diabetes support program and helps campers understand how to customize their own diabetes management plan for success.

Expanding Impact: Teen Boot Camps & Virtual Programs
DTC’s reach has grown dramatically:
- In 2024, it launched a Teen Boot Camp in Denver, CO, helping young athletes and their families navigate diabetes with confidence.
- During COVID, DTC pivoted to virtual programming, ensuring continued support and education for the diabetes community.
Campers describe the experience as “life-changing,” “magical,” and “life-saving.” One parent shared, “What you have given our son in 3 days is impossible to describe. You have changed our lives forever.”
Scholarships & Support
Since becoming a nonprofit in 2015, DTC has awarded over $650,000 in scholarships, making camp accessible to more people than ever. The annual gala plays a vital role in sustaining this mission.

For those unfamiliar, diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to the body’s inability to produce or effectively use insulin. There are several types, with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) being an autoimmune condition that typically begins in childhood or adolescence, and Type 2 diabetes (T2D) often developing later in life due to insulin resistance. Both require diligent management to prevent complications such as cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, neuropathy, and vision loss.
